One Minute Music Video Review

I am going to look at our one minute music video which we had only 2 weeks to complete, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and I am going to look at what our strengths of the music video was and the weaknesses, as I believe it will help us to know what we did well to ensure we continue to do these things and also which areas where we need to improve on and make sure we do in the future.

Areas in which we succeed include, the strong opening scene with well-chosen transitions and consideration of mise-en-scene. In our opening, we carefully considered mise-en-scene to the type of genre which was a very girly pop song therefore we had perfume, nail varnish and other beauty products incorporated into the video to help set the atmosphere for the rest of the song, as well as this during the start of the video we used editing on the video to create different colours to make the video look vibrant and fun giving the positive vibe in which we intended to. Another strength of our video was the well framed shots and variety of shot types, we will continue to think about a range of shot types in our final music video as it helps to keep variance and keep the audience interested. We also got positive feedback on our images and sounds that were well edited.

Our areas which was in need for development included the factor that we used 3 people for a solo vocal track as we didn't use this to create it as part of a narrative. Therefore in future for our final music video, we will consider characterization more carefully and make sure the actor/s in the video represent the vocalist appropriately otherwise, like this task it can look a little odd. Also, we didn't maintain the impact of the first section of the music video, for example our first 20 seconds is much better and continuous in quality compared to the rest of the video so to improve this next time we will ensure we are fully aware of the whole storyboard and what we will be filming for the whole song as for this task some parts we either steered away from the storyboard creating problems of what to film or we wasn't sure what to do. These factors are going to be very important in creating a great music video for our final.
