Myself and my group have decided to make a prompt decision to change our song choice, the reasons for this is that we found a number of issues with our previous song choice "Take a Walk" by Passion Pit. Our first issue we found that whilst creating the storyboard we felt that our ideas for the video had ran our of steam and as the song went on we found that the ideas became more bland and boring meaning the video would look poor. Another issue we had was how we would frame the narrative to allow for the fact that the song has a male vocal due to not having a male actor for our video, we were unsure if having a female as the leading role wouldn't fit with the song and lyrics. Finally, we had logistical issues around locations, we attempted to have a variety of locations as our ideas required this but upon discussing within our group we found that it would be hard for all of us to collectively come together to film. The decision to change songs was not taken lightly, however we believe that changing songs will help us to create a much better quality music video. We are also aware that this happens in real life media situations when ideas get abandoned and have to move onto other ideas.
The new song choice for our music video is "Tennis Court" by Lorde. We chose this song as it solved some of the issues we had with the previous song choice, for example as it is a female vocalist we can simply just use myself, Abbie or Emily as the main actor in the narrative of the video also allowing us to lip sync without concerns over whether it will fit with the song. As well as this, our ideas already for this video are much better as well as thinking about appropriate locations to ensure we can all easily get there and film together.
Lorde is a pop/electropop/indie rock artist, similar to our previous artist Passion Pit. We chose to do a similar genre as we enjoy the slightly upbeat tune of the song. I will research into this genre to ensure our video fits the genre appropriately.
We are also aware that this often happens within real life projects and productions, which has given us a slight insight into how projects can start of good and end up not working just as they do within real media companies. Doing this we have also had to change our ideas quickly whilst ensuring that they're excellent, this also reflects real life situations as often the cancelled project would have been expected by the audience, therefore creating the project would be vital in order to not disappoint the audience or lose profits.
